of my opinion with regard to Mr Alabaster's application for

an appointment in the Colonial Service and I sincerely

support his application.

During my recent absence from the Colony

he acted as Attorney General for a period of nine months.

That period involved an amount of legislation without

precedent in its dimensions, in addition to the usual work

of my office which is always abundant. Mr Alabaster dia-

charged the duties very efficiently and his work shewed

alertness and tact.

This opinion is I know shared by the officials

who were constantly in touch with him, and,I an assured,

also by the un-Officials who saw his work in the Legislative

Gouncil.

He would I believe do the duties of a Judge

or Attorney General with credit, and in the event of a

third Judge being appointed in this Colony I think Your

Excellency would be well advised in recommending him to

the Secretary of State for the post.
